   • Lane closures planned on Cheesman, Briggs streets Sept. 29-30

     The fiber work is expected to wrap by the end of the second day, with traffic open in all directions, the town says. Drivers should follow signs and flaggers and allow extra travel time.

   • WCR 5 lane closures delayed, work expected to finish by mid-October

     Crews will work weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Single-lane closures will affect part of the Soaring Heights entrance and exit, but no full road closures are planned and traffic will remain accessible.

2. Thursday, September 24

   • Section of Erie alley to close for sewer repair Friday

     The emergency repair is expected to take one day. Residents will still be able to reach their homes from the alley; the town asks people to use caution and follow posted signs.

   • Erie names three town manager finalists, schedules public events

     The Meet & Greet is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Sept. 28 in the Erie Community Center’s Briggs Room, with introductions and small-group chats. Council interviews follow Sept. 29 at Town Hall and will be livestreamed.

3. Wednesday, September 23

   • County Line Road soil sampling set for Sept. 25 and 28

     Two-way traffic will be maintained during the sampling, with delays expected to be minimal, the town says. The soil data will guide major roadway improvements planned over the next year.

4. Tuesday, September 22

   • Erie plans fiber line work between water plant and tank site

     The town expects work to run through Nov. 25, weather permitting, and says no road closures or water-service interruptions are planned. Nearby residents may see crews in sidewalks, tree lawns and parkways, where sod or irrigation lines could be disturbed.

5. Thursday, September 17

   • FEMA releases $90 million for Colorado disaster recovery and mitigation projects

     The awards cover disasters from 2013 through 2025, including $1.8 million for Kersey stormwater improvements and funding for repairs, flood control and wildfire mitigation. They are separate from pending fire-related aid requests.

6. Tuesday, September 15

   • Erie Mayor Andrew Moore plans to resign after 2027 budget adoption

     Mayor Pro Tem Brandon Bell will take over under the town’s charter and serve until the November 2028 election. Bell’s council seat will stay vacant until January 2027, and voters won’t see a mayoral race on the 2026 ballot.

   • Erie developing short-term-rental rules, public session set for Sept. 21

     Residents can weigh in on possible licensing, rental limits, noise and parking measures at the session. Staff plans to bring proposed code changes to council in October, with a target effective date of Jan. 1, 2027.

   • Erie police to host Coffee with a Cop on Oct. 7

     Erie residents can meet officers, ask questions and share neighborhood concerns during Coffee with a Cop from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Starbucks at 690 Mitchell Way, near County Line.

   • Erie to hold town manager finalist meet-and-greet Sept. 28

     Erie residents can meet the finalists for town manager from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Erie Community Center and share feedback through a questionnaire. Town Council interviews are scheduled for Sept. 29.
