Old Town Erie drivers asked to clear signed areas by 7 p.m. Monday

Vehicles left in posted areas afterward may be relocated outside the project area, the town says. Contractors will check with nearby property owners before moving them; crews will mark future parking spaces, crosswalks and stop bars.

Drivers in affected Old Town Erie areas are asked to move vehicles from posted No Parking areas by 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26. Vehicles left there afterward may be relocated outside the project area, the Town of Erie said.

Old Town Erie striping layout work, including Briggs Street, begins at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26. Crews will place temporary layout marks at various locations in Old Town Erie, including Briggs Street, to show where future parking spaces, crosswalks, stop bars and other street lines will go. Temporary No Parking signs are expected to go up in affected areas after this weekend’s Boo on Briggs event, the Town said.

Before any vehicle is moved, contractors will check with nearby property owners, and the Town will coordinate with the Erie Police Department, the Town of Erie said. Drivers are advised to watch for posted signs to avoid trouble with a moved vehicle. Questions about a relocated vehicle can be directed to the Erie Police Department non-emergency line at 303-441-4444.

Sections of the roadway will be blocked off during the work so equipment and personnel can operate safely. Public parking is available at Coal Creek Park, near Town Hall, and on Briggs Street north and south of the business district, the Town said. All work is weather dependent.
