Erie proposes three new positions in 2027 budget
The proposed hires are two police officers and a wastewater manager. Council can revise the budget before adoption, with a first reading scheduled for Oct. 27 and a final vote set for Nov. 10.
Erie is proposing three new full-time positions in its 2027 budget: two police officers and a wastewater manager.
The proposed budget totals approximately $190 million across the 16 funds the town currently manages. It prioritizes maintaining what the town currently owns while managing the impacts of growth and economic change, the town said.
Budget planning required prioritizing many projects as the town was seeing and anticipating reduced revenue projections and navigating an uncertain economy, town staff said. Departments delivered resilient budgets that prioritized the town’s most critical programs and projects.
The budget is scheduled for First Reading on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and adoption on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The Council may direct changes to the proposed budget, and the current version could change before the Council adopts a final version. Residents can watch the listed meetings on the town’s meeting-watch page to follow budget changes. The 2027 Recommended Budget is posted publicly on the town’s budget webpage.
