Larimer and Weld food inspections for August 3–9, 2026
Larimer and Weld county health inspectors score each retail food inspection by total violation points: 0–49 passes, 50–109 requires a re-inspection, and 110 or more results in a closure. Critical (priority) violations are those most likely to cause foodborne illness. The following is drawn from the county health departments' public inspection records.
This week’s retail food inspections in Larimer and Weld counties produced six failed inspections and six passes that still had critical violations. According to the Larimer County health department and the Weld County health department, the issues ranged from improper temperature control and handwashing lapses to food storage and sanitation problems.
Failed inspections
BAMBOO EXPRESS, Loveland (Larimer County) — inspected August 7, scored 56 (re-inspection required), according to the Larimer County health department. Inspectors noted raw chicken stored above raw beef in a cooler, food residue on a meat grinder, knives and a slicer with dried food debris, mouse feces in a dry storage area, a large gap under an exit door allowing pests in, and a vacuum breaker placed under backpressure.
LOAF N JUG #750822, Fort Collins (Larimer County) — inspected August 6, scored 55 (re-inspection required), according to the Larimer County health department. Inspectors noted hand-washing sinks that did not reach 85 degrees, hot-held Monterrey chicken rolls at 129 degrees, and warewashing water below 110 degrees.
BASHS, Frederick (Weld County) — inspected August 5, scored 55 (re-inspection required), according to the Weld County health department. Inspectors noted chicken wings, mozzarella, dressings, cheeses, sausage, and ham held at 47 to 52 degrees in a warm walk-in cooler, and the walk-in cooler was not working so food was being moved to other coolers.
RICAS PUPUSAS A, Weld County — inspected August 7, scored 107 (re-inspection required), according to the Weld County health department. Inspectors noted an employee handling a phone, then putting on gloves and touching food without washing hands; a hand sink blocked by dirty dishes and being used for handwashing at the three-compartment sink; dirty dishes in the hand sink making it inaccessible; dish sanitizer with no measurable chlorine; cooked pupusa filling and cooked chicken held at 47 to 58 degrees in a cooler that was 66 degrees; cooked onions and peppers left in an unheated steamwell at 89 to 90 degrees; refried beans and mozzarella cheese held at 58 to 61 degrees in an unsafe cooler; cooked refried beans and salsa with no date marks and some foods held over one day without dating; cooked chicharron cooling on the counter without proper temperature control; and wastewater leaking onto the ground from the mobile unit.
BIRDHOUSE, Erie (Weld County) — inspected August 7, scored 102 (re-inspection required), according to the Weld County health department. Inspectors noted an employee handling tacos and spices with bare hands, employees reusing soiled gloves while handling ready-to-eat food, cooked barbacoa, sauce, pork, and queso held too warm during cooling, queso held hot below 135 degrees in a steam well, and multiple TCS foods held above 41 degrees in coolers and ice baths.
EL RINCONCITO SALVADORENO RESTAURANTE, Greeley (Weld County) — inspected August 6, scored 65 (re-inspection required), according to the Weld County health department. Inspectors noted an employee handling food after taking out trash without washing hands, raw beef, eggs, and shrimp stored with ready-to-eat foods in a cooler, cooked curtido and yuka not cooled properly, foods held too warm in a cooler and on the counter, and pupusas and sauces and beans missing required date marks or past their discard date.
Passed with critical violations
LA COCINA DE MAMA, Estes Park (Larimer County) — inspected August 7, scored 45 (pass), according to the Larimer County health department. Inspectors noted strawberries with mold growth in the walk-in cooler, an ice machine with black biofilm buildup on the water inlet, salsa held in an ice bath but not submerged, and an open can of chipotle peppers being used to store peppers.
GRANDPAS CAFE, Berthoud (Larimer County) — inspected August 6, scored 44 (pass), according to the Larimer County health department. Inspectors noted raw fish stored over ready-to-eat ham, no detectable chlorine in the dishwashing machine, and refrigerated TCS foods at 42 to 43 degrees.
CHILI'S, Greeley (Weld County) — inspected August 5, scored 45 (pass), according to the Weld County health department. Inspectors noted an employee handling ready-to-eat cooked chicken with bare hands, an employee touching raw beef and then a spice shaker without washing hands, dish machine sanitizer reading 0 to 10 ppm chlorine, TCS foods in a cooler held at 47 to 58 degrees, and shredded cheese in an ice bath at 50 degrees.
DOUG'S DINER, Milliken (Weld County) — inspected August 5, scored 47 (pass), according to the Weld County health department. Inspectors noted no detectable sanitizer in the dish machine and an empty sanitizer bucket, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, and dressing held at 45 to 51 degrees, and cooked posole, corned beef, chorizo, salsa, and pasta kept past the discard date.
ERIE SOCIAL CLUB, Erie (Weld County) — inspected August 6, scored 45 (pass), according to the Weld County health department. Inspectors noted employees handling dirty dishes and then making drinks or handling clean dishes without washing hands, a bartender garnishing drinks with bare hands, glove use leading to cross-contamination from raw shrimp to lettuce, and a three-compartment sink without an adequate air gap.
HIGHLAND PARK LANES & REC CENTER, Greeley (Weld County) — inspected August 6, scored 45 (pass), according to the Weld County health department. Inspectors noted an employee scooping ice after handling dirty dishes and a register without washing hands, cooked ground beef and cheese sauce held hot at 95 degrees in a steam well, salsa at 45 degrees and mozzarella at 54 degrees in coolers, and deli ham held more than one day without date marking.
