Erie names three town manager finalists, schedules public events

The town of Erie has named three finalists for town manager, with a public Meet & Greet set for Sept. 28 and Town Council interviews scheduled for Sept. 29.

The finalists are Corby Alexander, Kelli Johnson and Kathleen Osher. The town says a public Meet & Greet is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in the Briggs Room at the Erie Community Center. The finalists are scheduled to give brief introductions at 6:15 p.m. They are scheduled to sit at tables for small-group chats with residents at 6:30 p.m.

The Town Council interviews are scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, in Town Hall’s Council Chambers and will be livestreamed on Channel 8, YouTube and Zoom, the town says. The agenda lists Corby Alexander’s interview at 5:15 p.m. Kelli Johnson’s interview is listed for 6:15 p.m. Kathleen Osher is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Since 2012, Corby Alexander has served as City Manager for the City of La Porte, Texas. Kelli Johnson is Deputy City Manager for the City of Greeley, Colorado. Kathleen Osher serves as Deputy City Manager for the City of Littleton, Colorado.

The Town Council voted to terminate Town Manager Malcolm Fleming’s contract at a special meeting Tuesday, Feb. 18, then appointed Meredyth Muth interim town manager at a meeting Tuesday, Feb. 24. For the month of August, the town received 60 applications from candidates in Colorado and nationwide. The review committee worked with consulting firm Raftelis to narrow the pool to six semi-finalists. After the six completed virtual interviews, the committee narrowed the group to three finalists.

The Town Council will consider feedback from the public, town staff as a whole, the town’s Leadership Team and its own interviews with the finalists. The town says negotiations for the chosen town manager’s contract must be completed before the person is announced. Those negotiations typically take a week or longer, the town says.
