Greeley City Council unanimously enters executive session on potential litigation settlement

The Greeley City Council voted 5-0 Tuesday to enter executive session to receive legal advice and give negotiating instructions related to a potential litigation settlement. The closed session was taken up as Item 27 on the council’s agenda. The motion cited exceptions in Colorado’s open meetings law for legal advice and instructions to negotiators.

Council Member Johnny Olson announced that the motion carried on a 5-0 vote. After later agenda items were completed, Olson said the council would enter executive session and would not return to council chambers afterward.

The action authorized a closed-door discussion limited to legal advice and settlement negotiations tied to potential litigation, as described in the agenda materials. The council then moved on to remaining procedural business before ending the public portion of the meeting.
