Severance starts Ridgegate annexation process, sets Dec. 8 hearing
The hearing will determine whether the proposal meets state constitutional and statutory eligibility requirements, not whether to annex the land.
The Severance Town Council approved the start of annexation proceedings for the 39.725-acre Ridgegate property Oct. 27, setting a Dec. 8 hearing before any decision to annex it.
The hearing is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, or as soon afterward as possible, at Severance Town Council Chambers, 3 S. Timber Ridge Pkwy. “December 8th would be the time to be there,” a council member said of the chance to comment. The member said it would not be the last opportunity: There were three in all, two for the public. At the hearing, the council will determine whether the proposal meets state constitutional and statutory eligibility requirements for annexation.
The property lies west of County Road 21 near the middle school and north of County Road 70. It is agricultural land in unincorporated Weld County. Staff said the town and applicant had discussed rural-residential zoning, which would allow somewhat larger lots and a transition toward Windsor at the community’s edge.
Tyler Robbins is the petitioner. The annexation petition says its petitioner owns 100% of the property. If annexation takes effect, the property would become subject to town ordinances and other rules, subject to an annexation agreement. Town general property taxes would take effect Jan. 1 of the year after the annexation ordinance is adopted.
