Weld County commissioners approved purchases of two de-icing products, a liquid magnesium chloride called Torch LT at up to $526,000 and granular Ice Slicer RS at up to $860,050.

For Torch LT, the Public Works Department recommended buying as needed at $1.28 per gallon for a 5-day delivery price or $1.25 per gallon for a 10-day delivery price. The prices cover Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027, under a contract not to exceed $526,000. EnviroTech Services is the awarded vendor under Colorado Department of Transportation cooperative purchasing agreement 311003012, which the county can use for the purchase.

For Ice Slicer RS, Public Works recommended buying as needed at $149.95 per ton for a 5-day delivery price or $145.95 per ton for a 10-day delivery price. The recommendation gives the period as Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2025, and a contract not to exceed $860,050. Envirotech Services is the awarded vendor under Colorado Department of Transportation cooperative purchasing agreement 311002284, which the county can use for that purchase.

A staff member told the commissioners that Weld County Code allows the board to accept state bids without rebidding the same goods or services.
