Weld County accepts $280,000 in grant money for crime victim services
The contract covers 2027 Victims of Crime Act funding through the District Attorney’s Office, where the Victim Witness Unit provides services to crime victims in the county.
Weld County commissioners on Nov. 2 approved a $280,000 contract for 2027 Victims of Crime Act funds, which help pay for services to crime victims through the District Attorney's Office.
The contract serves more than 4,700 victims in Weld County, Michael Rourke said. He said the grant pays part of the salaries of several Victim Witness Unit employees and is the unit's second-largest funding source, behind county funding.
A commissioner thanked the unit's team for its work with victims. "4,700 is a huge number for Weld County," the commissioner said. Rourke praised a member of his team for diversifying the use of grant and county funds among the unit's employees.
