Greeley prepares pipeline work as $8.6 million grant reaches state

From the Greeley Water and Sewer Board meeting of

The city plans to prepare procurement and federal grant paperwork by year-end, select a contractor and order long-lead materials. Construction could begin around May 2027.

Greeley is preparing to move the Gold Hill Pipeline forward after $8.6 million in federal grant money reached a state fund that administers it to the city, a staff member told the Water and Sewer Board on Oct. 21.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency was expected to transfer the grant by the end of September. The state had not received it by then. Greeley concluded the project needed to proceed even without the grant because “inflation has continued to eat away at the value of the grant money,” the staff member said.

Greeley plans to prepare procurement and federal grant paperwork by year-end, the staff member said. The city also plans to select a contractor and order steel, valves and other items with long lead times. Construction could be underway by about May 2027, the staff member estimated.
