Greeley raises Amrize water lease to 32 acre-feet a year
The lease costs $1,475 per acre-foot, with annual increases tied to the consumer price index. Its initial term runs through 2028, followed by two five-year renewal terms.
The Greeley Water and Sewer Board approved an amendment Oct. 21 increasing the city’s annual water lease to Amrize North America from 10 to 32 acre-feet.
The lease rate is $1,475 per acre-foot and increases annually with the consumer price index for the Denver-Boulder-Greeley area. “This year we received our winning bids at $1,500 an acre-foot,” a staff member told the board, comparing the lease price with Greeley’s water-rental program. Water and sewer staff said the lease complements that program with guaranteed revenue, a competitive price and annual increases.
Greeley will deliver 32 acre-feet a year at a steady 2.66 acre-feet per month, continuing releases from Milton Seaman Reservoir to the Poudre. Amrize will divert the water into a quarry; from there, it will be piped or trucked to the new Ingleside Quarry, the staff member said. Greeley may curtail deliveries if drought restrictions are imposed or another catastrophic event occurs.
The lease’s initial term ends in 2028 and renews for two subsequent five-year terms.
