DJ Basin COGA and Varra Companies will match all donations to Weld Food Bank dollar-for-dollar up to $75,000 from November 23 through November 30, creating an opportunity to double the impact of contributions during a period of increased demand for food assistance services.

The week-long matching campaign comes as Weld Food Bank reported serving record numbers of families throughout Weld County this holiday season. The organization, which has operated in the region since 1982, reports that each dollar donated translates to approximately $6 worth of nutritious groceries for food-insecure residents.

Weld Food Bank serves approximately 88,000 residents across Weld County annually, including roughly 26,000 children, according to the organization's public reports. The nonprofit distributes food both directly and through more than 70 partner agencies operating throughout the county's urban, suburban and rural communities.

The donation multiplier effect stems from the food bank's purchasing power, food rescue operations from local retailers and producers, volunteer labor and partnerships with national food distribution networks. These operational efficiencies allow the organization to acquire food at significantly below retail cost while minimizing overhead expenses.

The matching campaign follows several recent community fundraising efforts supporting hunger relief programs in Northern Colorado. Earlier this week, a wine-tasting fundraiser at Zoe's Cafe in Greeley raised $35,000 for Weld Food Bank, marking the organization's most successful single event in a decade.

Weld Food Bank operates eight direct service programs, including Leona's Kitchen, which provides more than 150,000 meals and snacks annually to children, and mobile food pantry services that extend into underserved areas of the county. The organization distributed 15.6 million pounds of food countywide in 2024, according to its operational reports.

The nonprofit maintains an annual operating budget of approximately $6 million, funded through individual donations, grants and limited government support. The organization is an independent 501(c)(3) entity governed by a board of directors and is not affiliated with county government.

Donations can be made through the Weld Food Bank website during the matching period, which begins November 23 and continues through November 30. The matching funds will apply until the $75,000 commitment is reached or the campaign period ends.
