Larimer County will turn Saturday marriage licensing into a celebration on Feb. 7, where couples can self-solemnize on site—and their pets can sign as witnesses. The "License to Wed Bash" runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fort Collins Clerk & Recorder Office, 200 W. Oak St., first floor.

Appointments are encouraged but not required. Couples can book at larimer.gov/marriage for details.

Pets are welcome. Couples can add their pet's pawprint as a witness on the marriage license—a keepsake of the day, according to a Larimer County announcement.

"We're looking forward to celebrating love, commitment, and community with couples (and their pets!) at this exciting Clerk & Recorder event," said Tina Harris, Larimer County Clerk & Recorder.

The event leverages Colorado's self-solemnization rules, which allow couples to perform their own ceremony without an officiant or traditional witness. By offering this on a Saturday, the county makes the bureaucratic process more accessible for local couples.

This is the county's second License to Wed Bash. Larimer County hosted its first in September 2024, positioning these gatherings as a friendlier, one-stop way to handle marriage paperwork on a weekend. Harris called it "a new and exciting Clerk and Recorder event" when it debuted.
