The Larimer County Office on Aging has released a fully digital version of its Answers on Aging Resource Guide, marking the first time the decades-old publication will not be printed and mailed to residents.

The 2024-2025 edition, available as a downloadable PDF in both English and Spanish, allows the county to redirect printing funds toward direct services for older adults while providing real-time updates to resource information throughout the year.

"Funds once earmarked for costly printing have now been directed to the services our aging community needs," the county stated in its October 21 announcement. Previous editions were distributed at senior centers, libraries and through direct mail upon request.

Digital Format Enables Real-Time Updates

The new format allows county staff to update resource information immediately as services change, rather than waiting for annual print runs. Users can download sections or save a complete copy for reference.

The comprehensive directory covers healthcare, housing, legal services, nutrition programs, transportation, caregiver support, financial assistance and safety resources for older adults, adults with disabilities and family caregivers across Larimer County.

The Larimer County Office on Aging, established in 1973 as the federally designated Area Agency on Aging for Larimer County, compiled the guide in collaboration with dozens of community service providers. The office emphasized the guide is a starting point and does not endorse specific providers.

Growing Demand Drives Service Priorities

Larimer County expects its population of adults over 60 to exceed 101,000 by 2030, a 17% increase from 2021, according to the county's most recent Area Plan on Aging. That demographic shift has increased demand for aging services across the region.

The Office on Aging provides information and referrals, application assistance for long-term care Medicaid and Medicare programs, care coordination, nutrition programs, transportation partnerships, in-home service vouchers and caregiver support. Most programs serve adults 60 and older, though some extend to adults 18 and older with disabilities.

The office operates within the Larimer County Department of Human Services and receives primary funding from the federal Older Americans Act and state Older Coloradans Fund, with required county matching funds.

Guide Available Online and Through Direct Assistance

Residents can access the digital guide at larimer.gov by searching for the Office on Aging. Community members who have difficulty locating information or need personalized assistance can contact office staff at 970-498-7750 or [email protected].

Specialists are available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, to connect residents with relevant programs and resources. The office offers assistance by phone, in person at county offices, or through video conferencing.

The guide includes disclaimers that not all services may be appropriate or available for every individual and that inclusion does not imply county endorsement of specific providers.
