Timnath council approves sale of old fire station on Main Street for $450,000

The Timnath Town Council voted Tuesday to approve the sale of the old fire station at 4104 Main Street to Kayla McClure and Christian McClure. The resolution authorizes the town to sell the Old Fire Station property for $450,000 and allows the mayor or mayor pro tem to execute the agreement, with staff permitted to make technical or other non-substantive changes.

The sale is tied to the buyers’ plan to open Main Street Station in Old Town, a business proposal town staff said aligns with Timnath’s Main Street and Old Town revitalization goals. Director Robinson told council the buyers want to create a gathering place offering coffee, snacks, wine and other beverages, along with event space. He said the business is projected to employ 9 to 15 people and estimated annual sales of $750,000 to $1.2 million.

The contract includes a $20,000 performance measure tied to opening the business. Robinson said that if the buyers open within a year, they can reclaim that incentive. If not, the town keeps the money. The agreement also gives Timnath a first right to repurchase the property for three years if the buyers decide to sell it to an unrelated third party.

Mayor Robert Axmacher told the McClures the project fits a council priority to support development in Old Town. "We are just so excited to see your proposal, so excited to move forward with this transaction," Axmacher said, adding that the town is ready to support the effort.

Council Member Jeramie Holt also praised the proposal, saying the town is "fully vested into the revival of Old Town" and that the buyers’ vision matches the town’s. Holt, who said he serves on the Main Street Board and was part of the Old Town Steering Committee, encouraged the buyers to work with the board on potential grants, restoration help and other resources.

Before the vote, Axmacher said the McClures live in Timnath and called the project "truly ... a local endeavor." Council members voiced support for the contract and the broader Old Town vision before approving Resolution No. 41, Series 2026.
