Fort Collins Police Investigate Serious Motorcycle-Suv Crash Near CSU
Fort Collins police are investigating whether alcohol contributed to a serious collision Feb. 3 at South College Avenue and West Lake Street, after a northbound Cadillac Escalade turned left into a southbound motorcycle. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The Escalade driver and two juvenile passengers were uninjured.
Due to the severity of the crash, the Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team took over the investigation and is examining whether alcohol was a factor.
"Our investigators are working diligently to uncover the facts and provide clarity to the families impacted by today's serious crash," said Sergeant David Lindsay, who oversees the CRASH Team.
The intersection lies near the Colorado State University campus on South College, a corridor city transportation officials have repeatedly flagged in Vision Zero planning.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to contact Officer Matt Brede at (970) 419-3273.
