The Lyric Expands Food Service with DoorDash and NOCO NOSH Delivery in Fort Collins
Fort Collins moviegoers can now order The Lyric's concessions for home delivery through DoorDash and NOCO NOSH, the downtown theater announced November 23.
The independent cinema's popcorn, pizza, and theater treats are now available for delivery alongside its regular in-theater service. The expansion marks The Lyric's entry into off-premises food sales as the historic venue continues diversifying its business operations.
The theater joins a growing number of independent cinemas nationwide adopting delivery services to generate revenue beyond traditional box office and concession sales. This trend has accelerated as movie theaters reimagine their business models, with many venues operating as theater-restaurant hybrids offering expanded food menus and delivery options.
The Lyric has operated as a community fixture in Fort Collins for much of the past century. Historical records show a Lyric Theatre operating as early as 1917 at 137 E. Mountain Avenue, and by the 1940s, the Lyric was considered one of Fort Collins' main movie houses according to city historical contexts.
The venue has evolved significantly from its early role as a traditional cinema. In 1926, the Lyric Theatre partnered with the Fort Collins Express-Courier newspaper to sponsor community events including a Fiddlers Contest designed to foster local talent and engagement, according to Fort Collins historical records.
The current incarnation offers independent and alternative films along with food, beverages, and cultural programming. Recent screenings have included classic films and specialty events, with a December Christmas movie series scheduled to begin with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
Northern Colorado's NOCO NOSH represents a regional delivery platform alongside national service DoorDash. Data from the North American food delivery industry shows 68% of U.S. customers preferred ordering from local or independent restaurants using delivery apps in 2023, according to industry statistics.
The food delivery sector is projected to reach $90.3 billion nationally by 2030, providing independent venues like The Lyric opportunities to capture sales outside traditional operating hours and attendance patterns.
The Lyric continues regular theater operations while adding the delivery service option for area residents.
