Elder Construction Launches Annual Turkey Drive to Support Weld County Families
Elder Construction Inc. is collecting frozen turkeys and monetary donations through November to help Weld County families access Thanksgiving meals, according to an announcement from Weld Food Bank.
The Northern Colorado-based commercial construction firm will host turkey drop-off events at its Windsor location on November 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 7380 Greendale Road. The company is also collecting donations at its Colorado Springs location on November 20.
Residents can contribute frozen turkeys in person or make monetary donations through designated online links to support the holiday food drive.
The partnership comes as Weld Food Bank faces unprecedented demand, with emergency food program usage surging from 5,300 monthly visits before the pandemic to approximately 20,000 monthly visits currently, according to the organization's recent reports. The food bank distributed more than 15.6 million pounds of food last year across Weld County.
Elder Construction, a locally owned commercial construction company serving Northern Colorado from its Windsor office, has maintained an ongoing partnership with Weld Food Bank through annual turkey drives and volunteer initiatives.
Weld Food Bank, established in 1982 as a Feeding America affiliate, operates eight direct service programs and partners with more than 73 nonprofit agencies throughout Weld County. The organization serves families, children, seniors and individuals experiencing food insecurity in communities including Greeley, Windsor, Erie, Dacono, and rural areas across the county.
Colorado Gives Day, the state's largest annual giving campaign, opened for early donations on November 1 and runs through December 9, offering residents additional opportunities to support local nonprofits including Weld Food Bank.
Weld Food Bank is located at 1108 H Street in Greeley.
