Fort Collins Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing 15-year-old girl named Amelia who was last seen September 30 near Rocky Mountain High School and is considered an at-risk juvenile.

Amelia was last seen at approximately 5:00 p.m. wearing a grey hoodie, blue shirt, and black leggings. She is described as approximately 5'5" tall and 140 pounds.

The teenager was last spotted in the area of Rocky Mountain High School, located at 1300 West Swallow Road in Fort Collins. Police have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

At-Risk Classification Triggers Additional Resources

The classification of Amelia as an at-risk juvenile automatically activates enhanced investigative protocols and resources within the Fort Collins Police Department. According to Colorado Revised Statutes, juveniles are considered at-risk when they are believed to be experiencing factors that put them out of the zone of safety for their age and developmental stage, or when they may be mentally or behaviorally disabled or drug-dependent.

When a juvenile is classified as missing and at-risk, Colorado law enforcement agencies trigger additional resources including the Colorado Missing Person Alert Program, which is coordinated by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation Missing Persons Unit. This unit manages information on missing persons, coordinates alerts, and provides assistance to local law enforcement agencies.

The Fort Collins Police Department coordinates with other agencies including the Larimer County Sheriff's Office and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to share information and resources during missing person investigations.

National data indicates that most missing children are found in familiar locations such as the homes of friends or relatives, though specific local patterns for Larimer County cases may vary.

Fort Collins Police emphasize that public assistance can be crucial in locating missing individuals, particularly when community members remain alert for individuals matching provided descriptions.

Anyone who has seen someone fitting Amelia's description should contact Fort Collins Police immediately at (970) 221-6540. Police have not indicated whether additional search resources or specialized units have been deployed in this case.

The investigation remains active as police work to safely locate the missing teenager and return her to her family.
