Weld County commissioners approve resolution on Amendment 83, citing hunting and fishing rights
The measure's stated purpose is to help hunters and anglers in Colorado retain their rights and continue exercising them, focusing on preserving those rights for residents and constituents.
Weld County commissioners approved a resolution on Amendment 83 Oct. 5. Commissioner Kevin Ross said the resolution was intended to help hunters and anglers retain their rights in Colorado.
Ross, a hunter and fisherman, said the issue was personally important and backed the resolution. He said it would help hunters and anglers continue exercising their rights in the state. Many constituents enjoy “these rights and liberties that they've become accustomed to,” Ross said.
Commissioner Jason Maxey described himself as an avid fisherman and hunter and backed the resolution. Maxey said legislation was taking away what Maxey considered certain rights of residents and constituents. Chair Scott James called it “absolutely silly” that the board had to bring the matter forward, but said the resolution should memorialize those rights.
