The proclamation designates October 1st, 2026, as Human Trafficking Awareness Day and expresses support for law enforcement and frontline organizations working to combat trafficking. The proclamation says more than 30 organizations are collaborating through United to Stop Human Trafficking and names an October 3rd, 2026, summit at the Colorado House of Prayer in Fort Collins. Brianna Spica cited 15,935 cyber tips related to online exploitation handled by Colorado’s Internet Crimes Against Children in 2024, and 1.4 million national reports of online enticement, which she said was a 158% increase in one year. Spica urged the board to support United to Stop’s Know How Project prevention campaign and said a case involving a minor required nine agencies to work together before the young woman was thriving.
