Fort Collins is requiring appointments to access its 215 N. Mason St. office building, immediately affecting residents seeking in-person services for permits, taxes, HR matters, and court cases.

"Due to upcoming construction activity, the City of Fort Collins office building located at 215 N. Mason St. is now open to the public by appointment only," the city said in a news release.

The renovation will expand Municipal Court and enhance building security, according to the city. Anyone needing to meet with departments at 215 N. Mason must contact them directly to schedule an appointment.

Affected departments include Financial Services, Communications & Public Involvement, Emergency Preparedness & Security, Human Resources, Information Technology, Municipal Court, Park Planning, and Special Events.

Access remains unchanged for Municipal Court visitors handling traffic violations, misdemeanors, petty offenses, and civil infractions. The first-floor court handles cases referred by Fort Collins Police Services, CSU Police, other city departments, and private residents.

Previously, residents could walk into the downtown Civic Center complex to address city budgeting questions, sales tax matters, HR issues, or permits without advance scheduling. The appointment requirement eliminates that same-day access at a facility that consolidates multiple critical city services.
