Colorado State's 'The Audit' Podcast Returns With Fresh Season of Faculty Insights
Colorado State University's award-winning podcast The Audit launches a new season this semester with 20-minute conversations on topics from Dry January to artificial intelligence, available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and the podcast's website.
The new season opens with alcohol and addiction historian David Korostyshevsky discussing the Dry January movement and society's relationship with alcohol. Episodes will be released every other week.
The Audit won a 2024 Circle of Excellence Bronze award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education in the Communications—Podcasts (Frequent) category. Judges praised its concise format, clear production strategy, and detailed transcripts.
Host and producer Stacy Nick described the show's approach to storytelling: "We want to open the door to conversations that surprise people and spark curiosity. One of my favorite episodes featured CSU political science researcher and gaming expert James 'Pigeon' Fielder, who shared how democracy could actually benefit from politicians playing Dungeons & Dragons. It's those unexpected connections that make the podcast compelling."
Past episodes have explored Hallmark's holiday movie business model, snow safety, how horror films foster empathy, wildfire impacts on forests, and concussion effects. Upcoming topics include the science behind déjà vu, the history of the pocket, and America's loneliness epidemic.
Since launching in 2022, University Marketing and Communications produces the show for audiences across Northern Colorado and beyond.
