Colorado State University's Spur Campus opens daily Jan. 10-25 during the National Western Stock Show, inviting families to watch live pet surgeries, equine therapy demonstrations and hands-on agriculture lessons.

The partnership turns the stock show into a launchpad for CSU Spur's hands-on agriculture and animal-health education, reaching Northern Colorado families and future students.

The campus operates 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. across three buildings—Vida, Terra and Hydro. Stock show admission is required.

In the Vida Building, visitors can observe pet surgeries conducted by the Humane Colorado veterinary team. They can learn about human and animal anatomy using virtual reality. Watch horses use an underwater treadmill at the Temple Grandin Equine Center. Meet miniature horses.

Terra offers a sensory tasting lab and cooking demonstrations. Tour greenhouses. Get hands-on with soils, crops and food systems.

The Hydro Building features laboratory activities related to trout in the South Platte River. Build in the makerspace. Take lessons in the Spur Music Lab.

Heather Michalak, Spur director, said: "We're holding the doors open so the Denver community not only feels welcome but that they're a part of Spur."

CSU Spur served 100,000 visitors this year, including 9,600 PreK-12 students and 51,273 general visitors. The campus hosted 285 school groups from 31 school districts—30 percent from Title I schools.

Visitors will also find CAM's Classroom and CSU's Ag Adventure exhibit at Itty Bitty Acres, offering interactive education about food and agriculture.
