Fort Collins will enjoy mild weather Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and a high near 58 degrees. Light southwest winds between 5 and 8 mph will keep conditions pleasant, with minimal precipitation chances at just 3 percent. This comfortable day won't last long, however, as a weather system approaches later in the week.

Winter weather returns Wednesday night into Thursday as precipitation chances increase significantly. A 50 percent chance of rain and snow develops Wednesday night with temperatures near 28 degrees. Thursday brings the best chance of precipitation with a 60 percent likelihood of rain and snow, and a high near 40 degrees. Light snow accumulation under one inch is possible through Thursday night.

Conditions improve Friday as the system moves out, with a high near 35 degrees and mostly sunny skies returning. Temperatures will warm considerably over the weekend, reaching 45 degrees Saturday and 50 degrees Sunday under sunny skies. Next week continues the warming trend with highs in the low to mid-50s Monday and Tuesday, making for pleasant mid-winter conditions across northern Colorado.
