Historic Loveland Farm Opens for Christmas Season November 28
Osborn Farm in Loveland will open its gates for the 2025 Christmas season on November 28 at 10:00 AM, offering families opportunities to purchase Christmas trees and wreaths while enjoying seasonal activities and local vendor offerings.
The 164-year-old farm, recognized as Colorado's oldest continuously occupied farm, will feature horse-drawn carriage rides provided by Crow Creek Events, along with coffee and hot chocolate from Redemption Road Coffee and food from Millhaus. The farm also announced that a visitor from The North Pole will make appearances during the season.
Located in the Big Thompson Valley, Osborn Farm has operated as a family-owned agricultural enterprise since 1861, when William B. Osborn homesteaded 160 acres after traveling from Ohio. The farm initially focused on wheat and grain crops, with William Osborn credited with planting Larimer County's first wheat crop, according to historical records.
The farm has evolved its operations over recent decades to include agritourism activities, transitioning from traditional row crops to seasonal events that draw Northern Colorado families. The farm now hosts pumpkin picking during autumn and Christmas tree sales following Thanksgiving, maintaining its agricultural heritage while adapting to changing market conditions.
Holiday events throughout the region have increased in recent weeks as Northern Colorado businesses and farms launch seasonal activities. The Colorado Department of Agriculture encourages residents to support local agricultural operations during the holiday season through its Colorado Proud program, which promotes farm-based tourism and direct-to-consumer sales.
Christmas tree farms and agritourism operations in Northern Colorado typically open the weekend following Thanksgiving and continue through mid-December, with most locations maintaining daily hours from mid-morning through early evening. These operations frequently partner with local food vendors, coffee providers, and entertainment services to enhance visitor experiences while supporting the regional economy.
The farm's Christmas season offerings provide families access to traditional holiday activities at a location that has maintained continuous agricultural operations for more than a century and a half in Larimer County.
