A Beaujolais Nouveau celebration will take place November 21 at Zoe's Cafe in Greeley to benefit hunger relief programs operated by Weld Food Bank.

The event, hosted by Saint Patrick, runs from 6 PM to 9 PM at 715 10th Street in Greeley. Attendees will sample Beaujolais Nouveau wines alongside appetizers, live music, and a silent auction featuring various items.

All proceeds from ticket sales and auction bids will support Weld Food Bank's hunger relief initiatives across Weld County.

The fundraiser coincides with the traditional release date of Beaujolais Nouveau, which occurs annually on the third Thursday of November. The young red wine from France's Beaujolais region is produced rapidly after harvest and released within weeks, creating a light, fruity wine meant for immediate enjoyment rather than aging, according to the Wine & Spirit Education Trust.

The tradition originated as a local harvest celebration in France during the early 20th century. By the 1980s, French wine authorities established the universal release date, transforming it into a global cultural event that marks the beginning of the new vintage and the start of the holiday season.

Weld Food Bank, founded in 1982 and headquartered in Greeley, serves all of Weld County through multiple programs including mobile food pantries, senior feeding initiatives, and children's nutrition programs. The organization distributes millions of pounds of food annually to a network of more than 100 partner agencies in addition to operating direct distribution programs.

The food bank recently sought volunteers for its Hope for the Holidays Food Drive on November 23 at grocery stores throughout Weld County.

Tickets for the Beaujolais Nouveau event and silent auction bidding are available at bolder.bid/app/public/bidapp/weldfb/tickets/tix.
