The Early Childhood Council of Larimer County is accepting nominations for its 4th Annual Provider Appreciation Awards, recognizing outstanding licensed early childhood educators who have made significant impacts on children and families throughout the county.

Parents and community members can nominate teachers or caregivers through an online form. Nominees must be licensed early childhood educators working in Larimer County.

The program, which began in 2022 according to the Early Childhood Council of Larimer County, honors professionals who demonstrate exemplary service in quality early childhood education practices, leadership, innovation, and positive impacts on children and families.

River Song Waldorf School in Fort Collins encouraged its families to participate in the nomination process, promoting the awards through social media.

The Early Childhood Council of Larimer County, established in 1997 and incorporated as an independent nonprofit in 2003, serves as a regional hub for early childhood issues in the county. The organization's mission is to bring the community together to share knowledge and resources while ensuring all young children have the care and support necessary to grow and succeed.

In Colorado, licensed early childhood educators work in state-approved programs including center-based facilities, preschools, and family child care homes. These professionals must meet state education and training standards, complete background checks, and maintain ongoing professional development as required by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood.

The council provides professional development, workforce support, and quality improvement initiatives for early childhood educators throughout Larimer County. Its programs include coaching, consultation, scholarships, and leadership development opportunities.

Award recipients are selected by a review committee that evaluates nominations based on commitment to quality education, leadership, innovation, positive community impact, and dedication to professional development. Winners are honored at an annual celebration recognizing various categories including infant/toddler, preschool, and family child care educators.
