Fort Collins Toy, Game, and Puzzle Library Seeks Support Through Colorado Gives Matching Campaign
A Fort Collins nonprofit that provides free access to toys, games, and puzzles for local families is seeking community donations to sustain its operations while offering donors an opportunity to double their impact through a statewide matching program.
The Toy, Game, and Puzzle Library has partnered with the Colorado Gives Foundation for a campaign that matches new monthly donations up to $100 through December 9. The organization maintains free memberships as part of its mission to make play-based learning accessible to all Fort Collins residents.
The 501(c)(3) nonprofit operates as a lending resource where families, caregivers, and educators can borrow educational and recreational materials without cost. The organization serves primarily Fort Collins and Larimer County, providing access to learning tools that reduce household expenses while expanding children's exposure to diverse developmental resources.
Matching Campaign Details
The Colorado Gives Foundation will match the first month of new recurring donations initiated between November 1 and December 9, according to the foundation. The matching program allocates $250,000 across participating Colorado nonprofits, with individual matches capped at $100 per donor.
A donor who establishes a $25 monthly recurring gift would receive a $25 match for the first month, effectively doubling that initial contribution. The matching funds come from a statewide pool designed to encourage sustainable giving to Colorado nonprofits.
The campaign culminates on Colorado Gives Day, December 9, which raised $54.8 million statewide from more than 95,000 donors in 2024, according to the Colorado Gives Foundation. The annual giving event represents the largest single-day charitable campaign in Colorado.
How the Library Operates
The Toy, Game, and Puzzle Library maintains regular lending hours and hosts community events while collaborating with local schools and family resource programs. The organization's model mirrors traditional libraries, allowing members to borrow items rather than purchase them.
The nonprofit's free membership policy aims to remove financial barriers to educational play resources. All donations received through the Colorado Gives platform directly support the library's inventory, operations, and programming.
Donations to the organization qualify as tax-deductible contributions under federal tax law. Residents can donate through the ColoradoGives.org platform or contact the organization at [email protected] for additional information.
The library's participation in Colorado Gives reflects broader nonprofit engagement across Northern Colorado, where smaller community-based organizations report increased donor acquisition during the annual campaign period, according to the Colorado Gives Foundation.
