Tractor Supply Fort Collins Donates $500 to Larimer County Sheriff's Victim Response Team
Tractor Supply Co. in Fort Collins named the Larimer County Sheriff's Office its Hometown Heroes recipient on November 10, presenting a $500 check to support emergency assistance for crime victims in the county.
Sheriff John Feyen accepted the donation from store employees Korie and Teresa during a presentation at the Fort Collins location. The funds will be directed to the Sheriff's Office Victim Response Team to provide emergency shelter, food and clothing to victims of domestic violence and other crimes.
The donation comes through Tractor Supply's nationwide Hometown Heroes program, which provides $500 annual donations from each of its 2,300 stores to local first responder, law enforcement or veterans organizations.
Victim Response Team Serves County Around the Clock
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office Victim Response Team has operated continuously since 1994, providing crisis intervention and support to crime victims throughout Larimer County, according to the Sheriff's Office. The team responds 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist victims of all types of crime and traumatic incidents.
The volunteer-based team provides on-scene emotional support, crisis intervention, referrals to local resources including shelters and counseling, and assistance navigating the Colorado Crime Victim Compensation program. The team also responds to suicides, unattended deaths, family conflicts, floods, fires, missing persons cases and death notifications.
Community volunteers serve as victim advocates after receiving comprehensive training in victim assistance and crisis intervention. The team operates throughout all of Larimer County, covering both urban and rural communities.
The Sheriff's Office manages the program through its investigations division, with funding coming from county budgets and supplemental sources including grants and charitable donations.
Small Donations Fill Critical Service Gaps
Corporate contributions like Tractor Supply's $500 donation help victim service agencies address immediate needs that structured government funding or grant programs may not cover, according to state victim assistance reports. These discretionary funds enable agencies to respond flexibly to unpredictable expenses such as emergency supplies, transportation vouchers or program materials.
Victim service programs in Colorado receive primary funding through the state Victim Assistance and Law Enforcement program, which channels criminal fees and court assessments to local service providers. Additional support comes from federal and state grants, county and city budgets, and charitable donations.
The 2024 Colorado VALE Annual Report identified ongoing service gaps due to funding limitations, particularly for translation services, emergency shelter and victim relocation assistance.
Recent community assistance efforts in Northern Colorado have highlighted growing needs among vulnerable residents, with multiple local organizations launching fundraising campaigns to support families facing financial hardship.
Tractor Supply launched its Hometown Heroes program in 2024 to honor military service members, veterans and first responders including law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical technicians. The company has distributed more than $1 million nationally through the initiative, with individual stores selecting local organizations for annual donations.
