Wellington plans four holiday events to support downtown during Cleveland Avenue construction
The lineup runs Nov. 28-Dec. 18, with carriage rides, Santa visits and holiday shopping specials. One event at Owl Canyon Coffee also offers attendees a free book and ornament.
The Town of Wellington and the Wellington Main Street Program plan four Home for the Holidays events, beginning Nov. 28, to support downtown businesses during a major construction project.
Shop Small Saturday is scheduled for Nov. 28 from 1-3 p.m. at Centennial Park (3815 Harrison Ave.), with a petting zoo and horse and carriage rides.
Winter Wonderland follows Dec. 5 from 3-6 p.m. at the same park. Xcel Energy is sponsoring it, and it will bring Santa Claus to the park courtesy of the Wellington Fire Protection District. It will also offer horse and carriage rides, holiday lights, face painting and more.
Holiday Magic is scheduled for Dec. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Owl Canyon Coffee (3745 W. Cleveland Ave.). The Wellington Public Library sponsors the annual event, where attendees can see Santa Claus and pick up a free book and free ornament.
December Mingle on Main is scheduled for Dec. 18 from 4-8 p.m. in Downtown Wellington. The December edition of the monthly Downtown event will feature holiday-themed fun and shop-local specials.
"This year, with construction happening on Cleveland Avenue, showing support for our local businesses is even more vital than it usually is," Wellington Mayor Rebekka Dailey said.
The town and Main Street Program plan to host the series again, with the four events intended to support local downtown businesses during the construction. The series is designed to showcase Wellington's holiday season to visitors and give town residents a chance to celebrate together.
