Weld County courthouse to glow green Nov. 4 through Nov. 11 for veterans
Residents and businesses can display green lights, while the Veterans Service Office offers free, year-round help with VA disability claims, pensions and survivor benefits.
Weld County will light the historic Weld County Courthouse green from Nov. 4 through Nov. 11 as part of Operation Green Light, honoring local veterans.
Residents and businesses can take part by displaying a green light outside their homes or businesses from Nov. 4 through Nov. 11.
The Weld County Veterans Service Office provides free help with VA benefits year-round, including disability claims, pensions and survivor benefits. Residents can learn more at www.weld.gov/go/VSO or by calling (970) 400-3444.
"Lighting our courthouse green is one way to thank the veterans who call Weld County home," said Commissioner Chair Scott James. "We want them to know their service matters and that our support doesn't end when the lights go off."
Operation Green Light is led by the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, Weld County said. The program encourages counties to light public buildings green in the days leading up to Veterans Day, and it also calls attention to challenges veterans face and the help available in their communities.
"For our team, this work is personal," said Perry Buck, Commissioner Coordinator for the VSO. "Some have served themselves, and others have loved ones who served. They know how much this support can mean, and they want every veteran who comes through our doors to know that someone is in their corner."
