Greeley-Evans District 6 open enrollment applications open Nov. 1
Applications must be submitted online by Dec. 17; families will hear by email before Feb. 1, 2027, and have 14 days to accept or decline an offer. Approved students generally won't receive district transportation.
Greeley-Evans School District 6 will accept open enrollment applications from Sunday, Nov. 1, through Dec. 17 from parents seeking a school outside their home boundary for the 2027-2028 school year.
Parents or guardians must apply during that period. All applications are online, and more information is available at www.greeleyschools.org/openenrollment.
Parents will be notified by email of their students' open enrollment status before Feb. 1, 2027. They have 14 days to accept or deny an offer.
Students approved for open enrollment at a school outside their home boundary generally will not receive District 6 transportation services, regardless of programming needs. District 6 said it can accommodate most requests but may not be able to approve those for schools, specific grade levels or special programs that are at or above capacity or cannot fulfill a student's specific needs.
Four schools are fully open-enrolled and have no traditional boundaries: Chappelow Arts Magnet (K-8), the District 6 Online Academy, Fred Tjardes School of Innovation (K-8) and Early College Academy (9-12). Families must fill out an open enrollment application to attend any of them.
Students moving from preschool to kindergarten, from 5th grade to 6th grade (except at K-8 schools) or from 8th grade to 9th grade will be enrolled automatically in their home boundary school for 2027-2028. That changes only if a new open enrollment application is submitted and approved.
Students who are currently open-enrolled may stay at their current school through the highest grade offered there and do not need to apply each year. District 6 charter schools have separate processes, policies and timelines, and families can contact the school directly for more information.
The Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA), which regulates eligibility for school sports and activities, places some restrictions on students' athletic eligibility if they transfer schools during high school. Students who transfer without a bona fide family move or hardship waiver will lose 365 days of varsity eligibility in any sport they participated in at their previous school, District 6 said.
District 6 advises parents and students to learn about CHSAA transfer rules before applying for open enrollment.
