Weld County advances liquor, dance license and fee revisions

From the Weld County Board of County Commissioners meeting of

A work session is scheduled before the second reading to address remaining administrative matters. The changes would amend county rules for licenses, permits and revenue.

Weld County commissioners approved the first reading of an ordinance that would revise liquor licensing, dance licenses and fees, with fee questions still to resolve before a second reading.

Code Ordinance 2026-19 would repeal and reenact, with amendments, county code chapters on licenses and permits and on revenue and finance. Its pending-ordinance language is dated for the second reading, but the board still needs to clarify issues including fees before the ordinance can be treated as pending, staff said.

Staff said the county wanted to proceed with the first reading because of timing issues involving permits already in process. Commissioner Kevin Ross asked whether the ordinance should be enacted immediately. “Because that was the concern when we had our work session the other day, so that people didn't get caught in that transition period and get treated unfairly,” Ross said.

A work session was scheduled before the second reading to address remaining administrative matters, staff said.
