Man taken into custody after weapons call near LaSalle
Deputies say they developed probable cause to arrest him on suspicion of attempted murder, aggravated robbery and felony menacing, among other offenses. The investigation is ongoing.
Weld County deputies took a man into custody after responding just after 8:30 a.m. Oct. 25 to a weapons-related disturbance call at a home in unincorporated Weld County near LaSalle.
Deputies developed probable cause to arrest Van Hoesen on suspicion of third-degree assault for knowingly or recklessly causing injury, two counts of felony menacing with a real or simulated weapon, harassment involving a strike, shove or kick, and obstructing telephone service. The suspected offenses also include aggravated robbery involving a real or simulated weapon, attempted first-degree murder after deliberation and attempted third-degree motor vehicle theft.
Inside the residence, Van Hoesen argued with victim one and wrapped his hands around her neck, deputies said. Deputies said he then pointed a gun at her and repeatedly pulled the trigger, but the gun did not fire. When victim two tried to call law enforcement, Van Hoesen allegedly pointed a gun at them and took the phone from their hands. He allegedly took victim one's purse and cellphone, left the house and got into her car. According to deputies, victim one also got into the car, and she and Van Hoesen fought over control of it; he tried but was unable to take the car.
The investigation is ongoing.
