Bakersfield Condors beat Colorado Eagles 4-1 after Tucker Robertson’s short-handed go-ahead goal

Nikita Prishchepov tied the game short-handed in the second period, but Seth Griffith added to the Condors’ lead before intermission. Aku Räty scored in both the first and third periods.

The Bakersfield Condors scored three unanswered goals after the Colorado Eagles tied the game in the second period and won 4-1 on Saturday at Blue Federal Credit Union Arena in Loveland. Tucker Robertson put Bakersfield ahead for good with a short-handed goal, and Aku Räty scored twice for the Condors.

Räty struck first in the opening period, and Bakersfield carried a 1-0 lead into intermission. The Eagles’ answer came at 14:17 of the second, when Nikita Prishchepov scored short-handed while Colorado was killing a roughing penalty against Sean Behrens. The goal made it 1-1, the only tie after scoring began.

Then Bakersfield scored a man down. With Josh Brown serving a holding penalty, Robertson scored short-handed at 15:35 of the second to restore the Condors’ lead at 2-1. Seth Griffith scored before the period ended, sending Bakersfield into the second intermission ahead 3-1. Colorado had gone from an equalizer to a two-goal deficit before the third began.

The Eagles put 13 shots on goal in the third period but could not cut into that deficit. Räty scored again at 14:32 to make it 4-1, completing Bakersfield’s three-goal run from the tie game. The Condors had pulled away after the teams traded short-handed goals in the second, and Prishchepov’s equalizer remained Colorado’s only goal.
