CSP: Preliminary reports say box-truck driver struck and killed man on Highway 85

Preliminary reports indicate a northbound box-truck driver lost control and crossed the center median on Highway 85 near La Salle, the Colorado State Patrol said. The driver struck a Toyota Matrix head-on and then a Honda Accord; the Toyota driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Colorado State Patrol responded at approximately 7:05 a.m. to a multi-vehicle crash on southbound Highway 85 at milepost 262, north of Crystal River Road near La Salle. The Toyota Matrix driver, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol said. The Weld County Coroner will release his identity once next of kin have been notified.
