BAE Systems buys Weld County facility, expects more than 200 hires

The 130,000-square-foot site could employ about 600 people at full capacity, the company estimates. Retrofitting and equipment purchases are planned for the rest of the year, with production expected to begin in early 2028.

BAE Systems has bought a 130,000-square-foot production facility in Weld County and expects to hire more than 200 employees there over the next 12 to 24 months.

At full capacity, the facility could have approximately 600 employees, BAE Systems estimates.

BAE Systems plans to begin retrofitting the facility and procuring equipment throughout the rest of the year. The company anticipates opening it for production in early 2028.

BAE Systems says the facility will enhance its manufacturing capabilities to meet customer demand and business growth related to space-based hardware and sensor systems. “We look forward to expanding our production capabilities in Colorado with our first facility in Weld County,” said Alexis Wang, the company’s vice president of operations. The facility expands BAE Systems’ Colorado presence, joining production facilities in Boulder, Broomfield and Westminster.
