Weld County commissioners to review 2027 budget in three public readings

The sessions start at 9 a.m. Nov. 9, Nov. 23 and Dec. 9 in the Centennial Hearing Room at 1150 O St. in Greeley. The public can weigh in, and commissioners may make changes before their final decision.

The Weld County Board of Commissioners will begin reviewing the proposed 2027 budget in November, with three public readings scheduled before a December decision.

The board will consider the budget during three public readings before making a final decision in December. The first reading is Monday, Nov. 9, and the second is Monday, Nov. 23. The third is Wednesday, Dec. 9; all three begin at 9 a.m.

The readings will take place in the Centennial Hearing Room of the Weld County Administration Building at 1150 O St. in Greeley. The three-reading process gives commissioners time to review the proposed budget, hear from the public and make changes before adoption in December, the county said. “Creating a budget means finding a balance between the needs of our departments and our duty to taxpayers,” said Scott James, Weld County Commissioner Chair. “We work together to make sure county funds are spent wisely while still providing quality services to our residents.”

In July, county departments shared their budget requests with commissioners during work sessions. Those sessions gave the board a chance to review department needs, discuss priorities and look at planned spending, the county said. After the sessions, the county’s finance team continued reviewing requests and preparing recommendations for the board.
