Dacono LEAP applications for winter heating aid open Nov. 1
Households earning up to 60% of the state median income may qualify. Approved benefits cover only part of heating costs and usually go directly to the primary fuel provider; residents can apply online or through county human services offices.
Applications for Colorado’s Low-income Energy Assistance Program will be accepted Nov. 1, 2026, through April 30, 2027, and households with incomes up to 60% of the state median may qualify, the City of Dacono says.
Residents may qualify if they pay home heating costs directly to a utility company or as part of their rent, meet household income requirements and meet other eligibility requirements established by the state, the city said. The federally funded program is administered by the Colorado Department of Human Services and helps eligible Colorado families, seniors and individuals pay part of their winter heating costs. LEAP is not intended to cover the entire cost of home heating but helps reduce the financial burden during Colorado’s colder months. In most cases, approved benefits are paid directly to the household’s primary heating fuel provider.
Beginning Nov. 1, residents can apply online through Colorado PEAK or submit applications through other methods, including local county human services offices. Complete eligibility requirements and application information are available online. Residents who need additional assistance or want to request a paper application can call 1-866-HEAT-HELP (1-866-432-8435).
