Wyoming man dies after Loveland driver turns across motorcycle's path, police say

Preliminary findings indicate the driver failed to yield, police said, and the driver was charged in connection with the crash. The intersection was closed for several hours; police ask people with additional information to call (970) 667-2151.

A 55-year-old Loveland driver began turning left across the path of a 65-year-old Wyoming man riding a motorcycle shortly after 1 p.m. Monday at E. 29th Street and N. Garfield Avenue, Loveland police said. The motorcyclist died at the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate the truck driver failed to yield the right-of-way, resulting in the fatal collision, Loveland police said. The driver was charged in connection with the crash. The department said the release’s details were based on preliminary information available at the time of drafting. Its understanding may change as additional evidence is collected, analyzed and reviewed.

Speed and impairment involving drugs or alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the crash, Loveland police said. The intersection remained closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the motorcyclist’s identity, the Loveland Police Department said. The department is asking anyone with additional information about the crash to call its non-emergency number at (970) 667-2151.
