Greeley debuts expanded playground at Twin Rivers Community Park
The play area includes Braille signs, a visual communication board, anti-static turf and RightHear technology, which the city says is a first for a Colorado playground. A ribbon-cutting is set for Oct. 28, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Greeley has debuted an expanded playground at Twin Rivers Community Park.
The new play area includes accessible play equipment, Braille signs, a visual communication board and anti-static turf. RightHear technology is another feature; the city says Twin Rivers is the first playground in Colorado to feature it. “We wanted to create an exciting destination that the community could really embrace,” said project lead Susan Murray. The city identifies the Volo Aire tower as the playground’s centerpiece and describes it as a multistory accessible play feature with a slide that challenges children of all abilities.
The city will host a ribbon-cutting Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Twin Rivers Community Park, 1501 65th Ave., Greeley. The event will include music, giveaways and a chance to enjoy the new playground.
Public surveys and focus groups guided the site design and selection of inclusive play features, the city said. Greeley’s voter-approved Quality of Life Tax fully funded the playground project, the city said. The tax supports several other playground replacement projects at local parks.
