How to take part in Larimer County commissioner meetings
Residents can check agendas, attend or watch, and learn that phone comments at Administrative Matters meetings require registration by 4:30 p.m. the preceding Monday.
Larimer County describes its three-member Board of County Commissioners as the county’s main policy-making body.
Here’s where to find meeting details, how to attend or watch, and how to take part by public comment.
Can I give public comment at every Larimer County commissioners' meeting?
No. Work sessions are discussions between county staff and commissioners, and no decisions or public comment take place during them. Administrative Matters meetings are typically held at 9 a.m. Mountain Time on Tuesdays unless the agenda marks them canceled. The first half hour is reserved for public comment; the rest is for routine administrative items or operational discussions with staff.
Land Use Hearings are public hearings and decision-making meetings, typically held on the second and fourth Monday at 3 p.m. Mountain Time. Items of high public interest are heard at 6:30 p.m. Mountain Time one Monday a month, and additional hearings are occasionally scheduled.
Where can I find the meeting schedule, agendas, and supporting materials?
The calendar on the Upcoming Commissioners’ Meetings & Broadcasts page can be filtered by board or event category, searched for specific meetings, and scrolled to view past or future events. Current detailed information for work sessions, Administrative Matters meetings and Land Use Hearings is available at the Commissioners’ Office or on that page.
A decision may be made at a meeting marked with the decision-possible symbol. Meetings and agendas are subject to change.
How can I attend or watch a commissioners' meeting?
Unless the schedule notes otherwise, meetings are held at the Larimer County Administrative Services Building, 200 West Oak, Fort Collins, Colorado.
Meetings marked as televised are carried on Comcast Fort Collins Cable Channel 14 and 881 (HD) and Connexion Channel 14. Meetings marked for internet broadcast will be broadcast on the internet on Larimer County YouTube.
How can I speak at a meeting or send written comment?
At Administrative Matters meetings, you can comment in person, by email or by phone. A sign-in sheet will be posted at the meeting for people intending to comment. Email comments for Administrative Matters meetings should be sent to [email protected]; they will be sent to commissioners for information but will not be read aloud.
To comment by phone at an Administrative Matters meeting, register by 4:30 p.m. on the preceding Monday. You can register by emailing [email protected] or calling (970) 498-7010. Provide:

You will be called at the number you provide when it is your turn.
What rules apply to public comment?
The commissioners cannot take comments at an Administrative Matters meeting about matters scheduled or likely to be scheduled for a future quasi-judicial proceeding. This includes land-use, liquor or marijuana license hearings and special-district formation. Comments on those matters must be made at the future hearing.
At Administrative Matters meetings, each person has up to three minutes to comment. The chair may shorten the limit if needed to give each commenter a chance to speak. Digital visual aids, such as PowerPoint presentations or videos, are not permitted during public comment at Administrative Matters meetings. You may email digital materials to [email protected] or provide commissioners with physical copies of visual aids in person.
The commissioners generally do not engage in back-and-forth discussion or answer questions during public comment. The board or a staff member may reply later using contact information on the sign-up sheet. The public-comment rules ask you to be civil and respectful; direct personal threats or other extreme behavior that disrupts a meeting will not be tolerated.
How can I contact commissioners directly about a county issue?
You can contact a commissioner by email or phone:
- John Kefalas, District I, Chair Pro Tem: [email protected] or (970) 498-7001
- Kristin Stephens, District II: [email protected] or (970) 498-7002
