Two men arrested after driver crashes during I-25 pursuit

The sheriff’s office said the driver exceeded 100 mph before hitting a guardrail. Deputies recovered a loaded handgun; the driver was arrested for eluding, traffic violations, DUI and reckless endangerment, and the passenger for prohibited use of weapons.

Two men were arrested after a driver crashed into a guardrail near the Highway 60 exit while eluding Larimer County deputies at more than 100 mph, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said.

Just before midnight Oct. 8, deputies located a vehicle that had eluded Fort Collins Police officers a short time earlier, the sheriff's office said. Deputies tried to stop it, but the driver continued south on I-25 at speeds exceeding 100 mph while eluding them. The driver recklessly attempted to pass another vehicle and crashed into a guardrail near the Highway 60 exit. “Dangerous driving affects everyone in our community and we’re glad no one was injured from this incident,” the sheriff's office said.

After a high-risk stop, deputies took the driver and a passenger into custody. They recovered a loaded handgun from the vehicle. The male driver was arrested for eluding, traffic violations, driving under the influence and reckless endangerment. A male passenger was arrested for prohibited use of weapons, and both men were booked into the Larimer County Jail.
