How to take part in Poudre school board meetings

The guide helps parents, students, staff and other community members follow board meetings, submit written comments or sign up to speak, with details on registration deadlines, speaking limits and where to find agendas and recordings.

The Poudre School District (PSD) Board of Education generally schedules community-comment time during regular meetings, and parents, staff, students and community members can participate in district committees. The elected board sets district policy and governance.

Are PSD Board of Education meetings open to the public?

All regular and special meetings of the Board of Education are open to the public. Except in certain circumstances, the board is not required to provide community comment.

How can I find PSD board meeting dates, agendas and supporting materials?

The October 13 meeting agenda and subsequent materials are available through the Board of Education Meeting Agendas and Materials portal. The listed 2026-27 meeting dates are October 13 and 27, 2026; November 3 and 17, 2026; December 8, 2026; January 12 and 26, 2027; February 9 and 23, 2027; March 9 and 23, 2027; April 13 and 27, 2027; May 11 and 25, 2027; and June 8 and 15, 2027.

Agendas are typically posted about a week before each meeting. The agenda specifies the meeting location, and its public notice specifies the time. Regular meetings may be canceled or postponed by board action.

How can I send written comments to the PSD Board?

You can email or mail the board or individual board members under board policy. For the Oct. 13 meeting, you can email comments to [email protected], but they will not be read aloud during the meeting or included in its minutes.

Emails sent to or received from that address about agenda topics or other issues are subject to Colorado Open Records law and may be made public. Board members may or may not respond.

How do I sign up to speak at a PSD board meeting?

You must sign up in advance to speak during community comment. PSD makes the meeting-specific sign-up form available after the meeting is officially posted and its link is live.

Under PSD’s general meeting-page instructions, the form is available from the time the agenda is posted until 5 p.m. on the Monday before the meeting. If you sign up before the deadline, you receive an email acknowledgment and instructions for making remarks after the deadline has passed.

The board president may impose rules before or during a meeting to limit total community-comment time or time per speaker, based on the number of people signed up. The president may close registration early if public-comment capacity is reached.

What rules apply during PSD board community comment?

Board policy generally limits community comment to no longer than 45 minutes. Speakers typically receive between two and three minutes, depending on the number signed up; all speakers at the same meeting receive the same amount of time, set by the presiding officer based on sign-ups.

Comments may address any topic related to the board’s conduct of the district, including criticism of school operations and programs. The policy encourages comments that are constructive or helpful to district operations or children’s education.

Board policy bars:

  • Soliciting funds.
  • Promoting specific products or services for sale or purchase.
  • Commenting on subjects unrelated to the district, its schools, its operations or education generally.
  • Using vulgar or obscene language or imagery.
  • Engaging in harassing speech against any individual.
  • Discussing confidential student matters, unless you are discussing your own child.
  • Personal attacks.

Concerns about individual employees should go to district administration rather than the comment period.

Where can I watch recordings of PSD board meetings?

PSD makes recordings of board meetings available through its Board of Education Video on Demand YouTube channel.

Where can I find PSD board meeting minutes and recaps?

If the minutes you are looking for are not listed, email [email protected].
