How to register and vote in Larimer County

Eligible residents can register online, by mail or in person, check registration and ballot status, and learn when replacement ballots are available and how to request one.

Larimer County offers online, mail-in and in-person voter registration, and registered, active Colorado voters receive a ballot by mail for every election.

Who can register to vote in Larimer County?

You may register to vote if you meet all of these requirements:

  • You are a United States citizen.
  • You are at least 15 and will be at least 18 on Election Day.
  • You have been a Colorado resident for at least 22 days before the election.
  • You are not serving a sentence of incarceration for a felony conviction.

How do I register to vote?

You can register online through the Colorado Secretary of State’s website or by completing, printing and signing an English or Spanish voter registration form. You can also register in person Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at:

  • Estes Park Vehicle Licensing, 1601 Brodie Ave., Estes Park, CO 80517
  • Larimer County Elections, 200 W. Oak St., fifth floor, Fort Collins, CO 80521
  • Larimer County Recording, 200 W. Oak St., first floor, Fort Collins, CO 80521
  • Loveland Vehicle Licensing, 200 Peridot Ave., Loveland, CO 80537

Larimer County offices are closed on holidays. You can also register when obtaining a Colorado Driver’s License, using information you provide at the Driver’s License office. The county clerk checks whether your record is complete. If it is, the clerk sends a registration notice that you can return to decline registration or affiliate with a party. You are registered if you do not decline within 20 days after the notice is mailed and it is not returned as undeliverable.

You can return a signed registration form by:

  • Mailing it to Larimer County Elections, PO Box 1547, Fort Collins CO 80522

You do not need to include a copy of ID with a mailed form if you are already registered in Colorado and changing your record, or if you are registering in Colorado for the first time, provide your Colorado Driver’s License or ID number on the form, and the county can verify it. If you do not have a Colorado Driver’s License or ID number, include a copy of ID.

You can change your name, address or political party affiliation online through the Colorado Secretary of State’s website, or by completing, printing and signing an English or Spanish voter registration form. Return the signed form by email to [email protected], fax to (970) 498-7847, or mail to Larimer County Elections, PO Box 1547, Fort Collins CO 80522. Forms are also available at most libraries, city or town clerk offices and Colorado Driver’s License bureaus. If you cannot obtain a form, you may submit a personal note to change your registration record. The note must include:

  • Your name
  • Your birth date
  • Your old address
  • Your new address
  • Your signature
  • The date of the request

How can I check my voting status?

You can check your registration and mail-ballot status on the Colorado Secretary of State’s GoVoteColorado.gov website, call Larimer County Elections at (970) 498-7820, or track your ballot through BallotTrax. BallotTrax tracking is available only for mail ballots.

When should my ballot arrive?

Larimer County Elections begins mailing ballots 29 days before an election. If you have not received your ballot within one week, you can request a replacement. Ballot packets are assembled about six weeks before Election Day and mailed to voters about three weeks before Election Day. Packets for military or overseas voters are mailed 45 days before Election Day.

You can request a replacement ballot if you have lost or damaged your original. You can request one:

  • In person at Larimer County Elections, 200 W. Oak St., Suite 5100, Fort Collins, CO 80521, beginning 45 days before Election Day until vote centers open
  • By calling (970) 498-7820, beginning 29 days before Election Day until eight days before Election Day
  • At a vote center

How do I return my ballot?

You can return your ballot by mail, with postage rates applying, or deliver it to any ballot box or vote center in Larimer County. Mailed ballots need adequate postage. For the 2026 General Election, Larimer County recommends mailing your ballot by Monday, Oct. 26, and recommends using a ballot box or vote center after that date.

All ballots for the 2026 General Election must reach the Larimer County Elections office by 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3. Postmarks do not count. Ballot boxes opened Friday, Oct. 2, and are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week until 7 p.m. Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Vote centers begin opening Monday, Oct. 19, and all are scheduled to close at 7 p.m. Election Day. Their listed hours are:

  • Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 24; Sunday, Oct. 25; and Sunday, Nov. 1: closed
  • Saturday, Oct. 31: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The 2026 General Election ballot-box list includes Red Feather Lakes Community Library, 71 Fire House Ln., Red Feather Lakes, CO 80545, with walk-up and drive-up access. There are no vote centers in Red Feather Lakes for the current or upcoming election; Larimer County directs voters to vote centers in Bellvue and Laporte.

You can also search by address through the Colorado Secretary of State’s tool, which becomes available two to four weeks before an election.
