Larimer County

Ranch concept would expand Peterson center

From the Larimer County Board of County Commissioners meeting of

The revised Ranch concept would expand Peterson Toyota Center, retain the event plaza and Blue Arena renovations, and include a 90,000-square-foot expo space; youth hockey and sports would move from Phase 2 to Phase 3. The Ranch team recommended the shift after stakeholders said Peterson’s ceiling heights were unsuitable for hockey and youth programming could conflict with events and parking. Phase 3 has no funding, while Phase 2 is expected to be completed by 2030 at the latest. The Prospect Energy well-plugging project remains due for completion by June of 2028; the contractor request for proposals was due Oct. 5, 2026, and the county hoped to hire a contractor by the end of October or early November. The county moved the planned effective date for its revised special-events code from January 1st, 2027, to January 1st, 2028, keeping the current code in effect for all 2027 events.
