Weld County deputies arrest man after neighborhood dispute
The sheriff’s office says he is accused of firing a handgun into the air, pointing it at five people, including a juvenile, and striking a man with it. A neighbor also received an assault summons.
Weld County sheriff’s deputies arrested 45-year-old Richard Tryon over the weekend after investigating an assault.
On Oct. 4, shortly after 8:30 p.m., patrol deputies responded to an assault in progress in the 15400 block of Mary Ave. in the Aristocrat Ranchettes, near Fort Lupton. Deputies said the incident began as a neighborhood dispute over loud music. Victim two, an adult female, reportedly walked across the street with a decibel reader to measure sound from the neighbor’s fence, and a verbal dispute followed between her and the adult female neighbor. Victim one, an adult male, went to check on victim two, and the neighbor reportedly began assaulting him.
Victim two tried to separate the adults as Tryon reportedly came outside with a handgun and fired it into the air, then pointed it at five victims, one of them a juvenile, the sheriff’s office said. Tryon and victim one then had a verbal dispute, and Tryon reportedly struck victim one with the handgun. After collecting evidence at the scene, deputies developed probable cause to arrest Tryon on suspicion of second degree assault-aggravated-non-family-gun, five counts of felony menacing, reckless endangerment and two counts of child abuse – negligence. The sheriff’s office said all charges are accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
The female neighbor was issued a summons for third degree assault after reportedly assaulting victim one, the sheriff’s office said.
