Fort Collins Open Streets to make part of Laurel Street car-free Oct. 18
The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with live music, arts and cultural activities, local-provider experiences, and food and dessert trucks along the route.
Fort Collins will turn the Laurel Street route for its annual Open Streets event into a car-free public space.
Fort Collins will host its 11th annual Open Streets event Sunday, Oct. 18. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Laurel Street from Mason Street to Shields Street. Admission is free.
The event will feature live music, arts and cultural activities, and experiences led by local providers. Food and dessert trucks will line the route.
This year’s Laurel Street route connects neighborhoods, downtown and Colorado State University, the city said. Open Streets is designed to promote safer, more accessible streets by encouraging walking, biking and skating. “Open Streets offers numerous benefits, from fostering social cohesion to inspiring a fresh perspective on our built environment and promoting active transportation,” said Active Modes Specialist AnnMarie Kirkpatrick.
