The Colorado Eagles scored twice in the second period and beat the Tucson Roadrunners 2-0 on Saturday at Tucson Convention Center Arena in Tucson. Nikita Prishchepov broke a scoreless tie, Jake Wise extended the lead, and Ilya Nabokov finished with a shutout.

The opening period ended 0-0 after each team had a power-play chance. The Roadrunners had another chance with the extra skater in the second when Yanick Turcotte was called for interference, but they did not score. Prishchepov then scored unassisted at 9:20 of the second period, putting the Eagles ahead 1-0.

Wise scored at 12:16 of the second to make it 2-0, and Colorado carried that lead into the third. Colorado's goals were the only shots to get past Tucson goaltender Michael Hrabal, who stopped 18 of 20 shots. Tucson put 11 shots on goal in the final period, but none got past Nabokov. Still looking for its first goal, Tucson got another power play when Tristen Nielsen was called for slashing.

The Roadrunners did not score on that advantage. Colorado also had a third-period chance with the extra skater after Cameron Hebig's tripping penalty, but neither team scored again. Nabokov finished with 32 saves on 32 shots, completing the shutout as Colorado's second-period goals remained the only scores.
